Batsford Arboretum go green with solar powered gates
The world renowned Batsford Arboretum, nr Moreton in Marsh, Glos. have recently had Solar Gate Systems supply and install a new solar powered automated main entrance gate.
It has the look of a traditional five bar wooden gate, complete with curved heel. However, at over 20ft ( 6 metres) wide, it is constructed completely from high grade steel. A GOLIATH snap shut lock ensures that this gate, when closed, provides another level of security.
Solar Gate Systems used one of their JUPITER high power, state of the art Brushless motors to open and close the gate, controlled by a 24 hour timer and GMT 200s telephone system for out of hours use.
The solar power plant situated 45 metres from the gate, provides more than enough charge to keep the 24volt batteries in tip top condition, even on the dullest of days, right throughout the year.
“We are absolutely delighted with our new entrance gate” said Stuart Priest, the Arboretum Director, ” it looks magnificent and does the job perfectly”
